About

Kellia Ramares is a freelance journalist, poet and baseball blogger from Oakland, CA.
She has been blogging about “Life, Baseball & Eric Byrnes” since August of 2005, following her favorite player’s journey from trade bait and non-tender to his emergence as a team leader on a pennant contender.
In addition to discussing what goes on during the game and the season, Kellia is also interested in that place where sports, particularly baseball, meet larger world issues such as the environment (stadium construction and management), the economy (ticket prices), and women (women’s opportunities in sports media; domestic violence among athletes).
You can watch a video of Kellia reading from her poetry book “Near the Ragged Edge of Earth” on her LiveVideo channel (http://www.livevideo.com/radiokellia). Though the book contains only a very little sports poetry, one of the two people to whom it is dedicated is Eric Byrnes. When Byrnesie was in San Francisco to play the Giants in September ‘07, he told Kellia the book was “awesome.”
